Dedicated to NMSU and Giving Back

Regina and Ruben GalvanRuben, ’91, and Regina, ‘90, Galvan are proud of their education and love for NMSU. As graduates of Doña Ana Community College, they both feel that NMSU is a second family with friendships that will last a lifetime.

Ruben and Regina know the importance of giving back to NMSU and support the Ramon Quintela Memorial Endowed scholarship.  They focused on memorializing their parents, Ramon and Alice Quintela and Martha Galvan who provided examples of hard work, gave direction, and molded them for success through their education.

“We feel fortunate that we are able to give back to others knowing that we are changing someone’s life. We want NMSU to be the choice of our grandchildren and anyone else who wants to further their education young or old. We want them to feel that NMSU is invested in them and their success. We would not be where we are today without NMSU,” says the Galvans.

The Galvans believe in living life to the fullest while also respecting each other and the environment. They make it a point to smile and say “hello” to strangers, especially students on campus, and they enjoy every minute that is spent with family and friends. The couple believes that everyone should focus on the beneficial value of contributions to the community and how those contributions will create opportunity for others to succeed and hopefully give back themselves. “Contributing to the success of others is very satisfying. The long term payoff is knowing that something we have done to help others will make this world a better place for our grandchildren,” says Regina.

Both Ruben and Regina are proud employees of NMSU. Ruben has been with NMSU for 23 years and Regina for 25 years. Ruben will receive his Bachelors’ Degree from the College of Arts & Sciences in August 2015. Not only are they dedicated to helping students but they are dedicated to their jobs. Their hope is that the community focuses on the importance of education by creating opportunities through scholarships that will benefit the future of others.
